Department Head's Word

I welcome you to the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, an academic space that takes the Arabic language as a living knowledge project, and linguistic and literary studies as a renewed critical act.

The Department was established with the founding of the University in 1994 to fulfill its philosophy of graduating highly qualified students in Arabic language and literature. They combine in their cognitive knowledge respect for heritage and openness to modern achievements in the specialization, utilizing their skills to serve the Jordanian, Arab, Islamic, and human society. Since then, it has carried an early awareness of the role of the Arabic language as a structure for identity and a tool for thought.

Today, the Department operates within a vision based on a creative balance between authenticity and renewal. It offers three academic programs (Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate) that combine deep specialization with openness to cognitive achievements and methodological paths in language, literature, and criticism to keep pace with modern additions.

The Department of Arabic Language and Literature, proud of its elite faculty members, aspires to be a symbol of academic excellence, a platform for critical knowledge, and a space for shaping researchers equipped with scientific tools, the courage to question, and the responsibility of the word.
