The Department of Fiqh and Usual Al- Fiqh welcomes students who are interested in studying Islamic Fiqh and Usual Al- Fiqh according to modern scientific curricula and research methods that combine tradition and contemporary relevance. The Department of Fiqh and Usual Al- Fiqh aspires to graduate highly qualified students who are capable of engaging with the various schools of Islamic jurisprudence according to their established and approved methodologies.
A distinguishing feature of studying in the Department of Fiqh and Usual Al- Fiqh at Al al-Bayt University is training our students to professionally engage with jurisprudential texts, foundational sources, and contemporary references to be qualified to establish contemporary jurisprudential opinions that serve the tolerant message of Islam. Our aim is also to make our students more capable of addressing national and Islamic issues with rationality, balance, and flexibility. The Department also fortifies students by providing a conducive academic environment, research facilities, and resources to protect them from sectarianism, extremism, and intellectual stagnation. The Department of Fiqh and Usul Al-Fiqh offers a Bachelor's degree in Fiqh and Usul Al-Fiqh, a Master's degree in Fiqh and Usul Al-Fiqh and Sharia Judiciary, and a Doctorate in Philosophy in Fiqh and Usul Al-Fiqh.
The Department supports students' academic and research activities and provides distinguished guidance and supervision staff. Each year, dozens of doctoral and master's theses and graduation projects are discussed. We have over fifteen members who graduated from local, regional, and international universities, holding the highest academic ranks. The number of professors exceeds 13 academic staff. The department's distinguished members contribute to knowledge and research output, including peer-reviewed scholarly projects and publications in local and international journals.
The Department of Fiqh and Usual Al- Fiqh's vision is characterized by its integration of tradition, modernity, moderation, and respect for the various Islamic schools of jurisprudence. It aims to refine and cultivate students' academic character, equipping them with the necessary knowledge, scientific, and research methodologies to engage with contemporary issues with a distinguished scholarly perspective grounded in diverse jurisprudential knowledge. The Department welcomes a large number of students annually from Jordan, the region, and the wider Islamic world, pursuing various academic levels. The Sharia College building consists of two wings, each containing suitable classrooms, educational facilities, and a distinguished garden to provide an appropriate study atmosphere for students.
The Department is committed to offering distinguished academic programs based on carefully designed study plans that are periodically reviewed by specialized committees. It also prioritizes teaching according to contemporary educational principles and treating all students with transparency and fairness, adhering to a national code of conduct that includes scientific and ethical standards and disciplined academic practices.
Finally, the Department seeks to establish scientific partnerships and academic collaborations with various relevant national institutions and local, regional, and international Islamic centers to foster a spirit of cooperation in transmitting authentic Islamic thought to the world. The department also prepares various scientific courses, conferences, seminars, and workshops for which an annual program is prepared with the start of the new academic year. It contributes to serving national and Islamic issues and participating in national, religious, social, and cultural events every year.
All praise is due to Allah. He is the Light of the heavens and the earth and He is the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth. Peace and blessings be upon the best of creation and mankind "Prophet Muhammad", peace and blessings be upon his family, his companions and all Muslims.
God Almighty says: {God bears witness that there is no deity except Him, and so do the angels and those of knowledge – upholding justice. There is no deity except Him, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.} (Al Imran: 18)
Imam Al-Ghazali said in his book Al-Mustasfa: “The best knowledge is that in which reason (Al-Aql) and hearing (Al-Naql) are combined, and opinion and Sharia are combined. The science of Islamic Fiqh and Usual Al- Fiqh are of this kind. Such science takes from the purity of reason and Sharia the right path. It is not a matter of pure reasoning in such a way that Sharia does not accept it, nor is it based on imitation that reason does not testify to supporting and correcting. Because of the honor and loftiness of this science, God made the motives of people for its students available, and the scholars of it were of a higher status, and the most honorable in rank, and the most numerous in followers and helpers.”
It is with great pleasure and affection that we welcome our students to the Department of Fiqh and Usual Al- Fiqh, which offers specialized, high-quality academic programs in accordance with the latest modern teaching and learning methods. We welcome students from Jordan and the Islamic world who wish to study Fiqh and Usual Al- Fiqh and Sharia Judiciary.
We believe that providing a stimulating academic environment for students, through the development of distinguished curricula and modern teaching methods, is one of the department's most important aspirations. This ensures the graduation of students with a high level of academic qualification, capable of professionally and competently integrating into the Sharia job market.
With warmest regards and best wishes.
