The College of Sharia (formerly the Faculty of Fiqh and Legal Studies) was established at the inception of the university in October 1994, in line with the goals of higher education in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Since then, it has offered undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs, establishing itself as a distinguished academic and scientific center in the field of Sharia sciences and Islamic studies.
The College of Sharia holds a prominent position among the university's faculties, contributing to the mission of Al al-Bayt University, a leading educational institution in the Islamic world that combines tradition and modernity in teaching various Sharia sciences. This mission is guided by the vision of His Majesty the late King Hussein, may God have mercy on him, and the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, may God strengthen his reign.
Following this approach, the Faculty has undertaken the responsibility of preparing generations of highly qualified scholars and academics, capable of engaging with the demands of the modern age and keeping abreast of its developments. This is achieved through the programs this College offers at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels. The Faculty comprises the Department of Islamic Studies, the Department of Fiqh and Usual Al-Fiqh, and the Department of Religious Studies. The College offers bachelor's degrees in Islamic Studies, Fiqh and Usual Al-Fiqh, and Religious Studies. It also offers master's degrees in Fiqh and Usual Al-Fiqh, and Sharia Judiciary, as well as a doctorate in Fiqh and Usual Al-Fiqh. The College aspires to introduce new specializations to keep pace with scientific advancements.
From its position, the College recognizes the importance of engaging with and influencing the local community to achieve the university's goals. This objective is translated into action through lectures, seminars, courses, legal opinions (fatwas), lessons, and religious sermons in mosques and at various celebrations and events, aiming to bridge the gap between this intellectual institution and the diverse segments of the local community.
The College boasts a faculty of 24 members who have acquired knowledge from diverse sources and prestigious universities worldwide. They contribute to realizing the college's vision, mission, and objectives. The college also has an administrative staff of 7 experienced and qualified employees.
