About the Program

The Bachelor of Science in Geological Survey and Natural Resources Exploration holds paramount importance for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, directly addressing the nation’s most pressing challenges regarding water scarcity and resource independence.
Water Security: Jordan ranks among the most water-scarce nations globally, with renewable fresh water per capita estimated at approximately in 2021—far below the absolute water scarcity threshold of The program plays a pivotal role in training specialists in hydrogeology and geophysical surveying to locate and manage non-conventional water resources, such as deep aquifers, which are vital for fulfilling the goals of the National Water Strategy (2023–2040).
Mineral Resources and Energy Development: The program aligns with national priorities to maximize the economic potential of Jordan's vast mineral wealth. The Kingdom possesses substantial reserves of phosphate and potash, both of which serve as major drivers of the national economy. Furthermore, the program is essential for advancing the exploration of industrial rocks and minerals (e.g., limestone, kaolin, and dolomite) and for executing high-resolution 3D seismic surveys to map subsurface formations for potential oil and gas reserves, thereby reinforcing energy security and mitigating import reliance.
By integrating state-of-the-art geological, geophysical, and geochemical survey techniques with modern computational tools, the program ensures that its graduates are fully equipped to contribute directly to Jordan's economic development, resource security, and environmental sustainability.
