About the Program
In 2002, a program in architectural engineering was introduced within the community framework. The university aims to develop new specializations that meet the hopes and needs of its students, while also providing graduates from all over Jordan with the opportunity to pursue these specializations. The department aims to prepare qualified human resources at the local and regional levels, focusing on the theoretical and philosophical principles of architecture based on an Islamic civilizational perspective. The department produces graduates capable of addressing architectural problems within the field of architecture as a discipline with connections and overlaps with various theoretical and applied sciences. The department also aims to create an architectural and urban environment that is compatible with human, social, psychological, and economic requirements by using environmentally friendly methods with the latest technologies in the field of energy provision and sustainability. This is done by opening channels of cooperation with engineering institutions in the public and private sectors.
Vision & Mission
Vision
The Department of Architectural Engineering aspires to be distinguished and pioneering in the Arab region by providing a high level of scientific and research standards and by working to develop and create generations of responsible, educated, and creative professional architects and designers capable of creating a better built environment through their distinctive and effective contributions of ideas, solutions, and architectural designs.
Mission
The mission of the Department of Architecture is to provide quality education to nationally competitive undergraduate students for a successful career in architecture; to provide advanced design skills and knowledge in the sub-disciplines of architecture to graduate students; and to serve the university, the engineering profession, and the public.
Program Objectives
- To provide a historical overview of architecture, both locally and globally, and
- to equip students with the skills to analyze and critique historical buildings,
- connecting design methods with historical context and human behavior within
- the surrounding environment.
- To provide students with theoretical and practical knowledge of various
- building and construction systems, enabling them to prepare plans and contracts,
- calculate quantities, and execute projects.
- Demonstrate high proficiency in critical thinking through the study of theories,
- problems, and challenges related to urban planning, urban design, landscape
- architecture, housing, and the preservation of architectural heritage.
- Equip students with the necessary knowledge to utilize renewable energy
- sources in architectural design at the levels of built architecture, landscape
- architecture, and planning.
- To equip students with architectural design skills using computer software
- (building modeling).
- To provide students with architectural design methodologies and principles,
- and to develop the skills required to solve design problems in various projects.
- To equip students with freehand drawing skills and rendering techniques for 2d and 3d
Learning Outcomes
- An ability to identify formulate and solve complex Engineering problems by applying principles
- of / engineering, Science, and mathematics.
- An ability to apply Engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with
- considerations of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social,
- environmental, and economic factors.
- An ability to communicate effectively with arrange of audiences.
- An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in Engineering situations and
- make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of Engineering solution in global,
- economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
- An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a
- collaborated and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan task, and made objectives.
- An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and
- use Engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
- An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
