About the Program
The Department of Mathematics is one of the departments of the College of Science, and with the Computer Department, it began its undergraduate programs at the beginning of the academic year 1994-1995. The department aims to meet the society’s need for specialized and qualified cadres to teach in the fields of mathematics, statistics and actuarial sciences. It currently includes 20 faculty members in various disciplines and scientific ranks. At the postgraduate level, we offer a master's program (thesis track and comprehensive track) in several areas of advanced mathematics including pure and applied mathematics. Students in the Comprehensive Track are required to complete a total of 33 credits including 24 credits of compulsory subjects and 9 credits of electives, then they must pass a comprehensive exam (score at least 75 points out of 100). Other students in the dissertation track are also required to complete a total of 33 credits including 15 credits of compulsory subjects, 9 credits of electives, and 9 credits of a research thesis of reasonable value under the supervision of a member of the department.
