About the Department
The Legal Affairs Department at the University is responsible for guiding the University's activities and decisions in accordance with the applicable legislative framework, which requires a consistent presence and dedicated effort to fulfill its responsibilities. The department specifically performs the following tasks: drafting and following up on the University’s draft laws, regulations, and instructions with the relevant authorities; providing legal advice and opinions on all academic and administrative matters at the University upon the request of officials; reviewing and drafting contracts and agreements related to the University's various activities, including economic and investment-related ones; following up on cases in which the University is a party (as plaintiff or defendant) in coordination with the University's legal counsel; providing legal guidance and advice on issues concerning the University upon the request of officials; conducting training courses and delivering lectures on the laws, regulations, and instructions governing the University; recommending the formation of investigation committees for various issues referred to the department and providing recommendations based on the findings; undertaking any other tasks or activities assigned by the University President; holding meetings with relevant parties regarding any issues, cases, or problems that may impede the workflow and facilitating appropriate settlements; following up on the University's legal and judicial activities with relevant state authorities as directed by the University administration; and providing legal assistance and guidance to both University staff and students regarding academic or personal matters, subject to available resources.

Given the importance of keeping track of the latest Jordanian legislation and court rulings, the department, in cooperation with the Hashemite Library, has provided a specialized electronic program that allows stakeholders and students to access and benefit from these resources.

Furthermore, the Legal Affairs Department has issued the second edition of the "Legislative Collection" (2009), which consists of two parts: the first covers laws and regulations, and the second covers instructions, guidelines, and procedures. This collection is also available on the department’s webpage on the University website—updated regularly to reflect any legislative amendments—to ensure easy access for those in need.

In view of the increasing legal responsibilities, the Legal Department has been supported with new staff. Notably, the department has adopted a system to receive reports and important complaints via its official email to ensure they are addressed in coordination with the competent authorities within the University.
