About the Program
The Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences at Al al-Bayt University was established in 2016 as part of the Faculty of Science. At the beginning of the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year, it become known as the Department of Medical Analysis and was placed under the newly established Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences. It offers a Bachelor of Science program in Medical Laboratory Sciences. In an effort to further develop the department, which has become distinguished due to the skills of its faculty members and laboratory technicians and supervisors, the university sought to establish a Master of Science program in Medical Laboratory Sciences. The establishment of the Master of Science program in Medical Laboratory Sciences aims to contribute achieving the university's vision and mission. The program provides students with educational, training, and research opportunities by offering a research environment that fosters creative thinking and encourages the publication of research in internationally and locally recognized journals. The program also aims to produce qualified professionals in the field of modern medical laboratory sciences who are capable of advancing medical analysis to serve the community. The department includes faculty members distributed across the knowledge areas of this program, as detailed in the attached table and their biographies. This ensures that graduates are equipped with the scientific knowledge and intellectual skills required to understand and apply studies related to laboratory medical sciences. The Master of Science in Laboratory Medical Sciences program allows admitted students to study advanced clinical courses, including: Diagnostic Hematology, Diagnostic Microbiology, Diagnostic Immunology and Serology, Clinical Chemistry, Scientific Research Methods and Biochemistry, Laboratory Management and Quality Assurance, and other courses of interest to applicants to this program. After successfully completing 24 credit hours, graduate students can proceed towards completing an original research project culminating in a Master's thesis equivalent to 9 credit hours, bringing the total to 33 credit hours in the thesis track. For the comprehensive track, after completing 24 credit hours of required courses and 9 credit hours of elective courses, applicants take a comprehensive exam which is worth zero credit hours.
