In alignment with Al al-Bayt University’s vision to advance health education and serve the community, the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences was established in 2024 to address national priorities in health education, workforce development, and economic growth, in response to the increasing demand for qualified professionals in the healthcare sector at the local, regional, and global levels.
The Faculty comprises four main departments: Medical Laboratory Sciences, Nutrition and Dietetics, Rehabilitation Sciences, and Allied Medical Sciences, offering seven undergraduate degree programs. In addition, the Faculty introduced a Master’s program in Medical Laboratory Sciences as part of its strategic plan to expand postgraduate studies and enhance scientific research.
As part of its continuous development efforts, the Faculty has worked on updating curricula and teaching methods in line with modern academic standards, utilizing the latest educational technologies. It has also begun completing the establishment of specialized teaching laboratories in medical laboratory sciences, nutrition, physical and occupational therapy, speech and hearing sciences, respiratory therapy, and radiologic technology, aiming to provide a stimulating educational environment that supports applied learning and scientific research.
Driven by the Faculty's belief in its social responsibility and its pioneering role in serving the local community, it implemented a number of activities during the academic year aimed at raising health awareness and enhancing communication with community institutions. It organized a blood donation event in cooperation with the Royal Medical Services to support national blood banks and spread the culture of voluntary donation. Faculty members and students also participated in awareness workshops and lectures inside and outside the university covering topics such as healthy nutrition, obesity, chronic diseases, the importance of physical activity, and smoking cessation. The Faculty also worked on strengthening its community partnerships through joint initiatives aimed at improving individuals' health and supporting sustainable development, in alignment with the university's mission of community service.
The Faculty has also sought to attract a qualified academic staff of various nationalities and expertise, alongside an administrative and technical staff of laboratory supervisors, with a partial scholarship plan in some vital specialties. Furthermore, the Faculty is working on establishing an advanced computer lab and a health and wellness clinic dedicated to providing awareness services on healthy nutrition and smoking cessation, serving both students and the local community alike.
The Faculty aspires to be a pioneer in the field of applied medical education by developing innovative academic and research programs, and expanding its local and international partnerships, to achieve its vision of preparing health professionals who effectively contribute to improving the quality of life and serving the community.
To become a beacon of excellence in preparing medical professionals capable of improving healthcare and meeting the needs of the community locally, regionally, and internationally.
To prepare pioneering educational and research programs that contribute to elevating the quality of medical education by offering advanced academic programs that encourage scientific research and keep pace with the latest innovations in medical sciences.
